Thunnis van Oort
Postdoctoral researcher
Thunnis Van Oort is a media historian. He is a post-doctoral researcher at the ‘CREATE’ digital humanities research programme of the University of Amsterdam. He has published a dissertation on the emergence of cinema exhibition in the Catholic South of the Netherlands (2007). He taught at universities in Utrecht, Amsterdam and the Dutch Open University, coordinated the Theatre and Media Studies track at Roosevelt University College, and visited Antwerp University as a Marie Curie Pegasus research fellow. He publishes in international edited volumes and in journals such as Film History, Historical Journal for Radio, Film and Television and the European Review of History and is managing editor of the Dutch media historical journal Tijdschrift voor Mediageschiedenis.
